Originally from New York, Dr. Basco did his undergraduate training at Georgetown University and New York University. He received his medical degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2005, and joined Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates of Hampton, in May, 2010.
Dr. Basco’s areas of interest are minimally invasive gynecological procedures and he provides a full range of obstetric and gynecologic care to women of all ages. His patients rely on his compassion and expertise in preventive care, detecting gynecological problems, and providing the medical attention they need to support a healthy pregnancy and delivery. He provides well women exams, contraception, management of abnormal Pap smears, fibroids, ovarian masses and abnormal uterine bleeding. Areas of interest in the office setting range from contraceptive issues to peri/menopausal issues, STD and HPV prevention, to managing precancerous conditions of the female reproductive system. He is also interested in bioidentical hormone therapy, which is sometimes referred to as “natural hormone therapy. “
Dr. Basco is an active member of Mid Atlantic Women’s Care and is the current chair for this organization which comprises more than a dozen practices and close to one hundred providers. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and volunteers at the Lackey Free clinic in Yorktown.
Dr. Thomas Basco wife’s, Dr. Mary Basco is an Internal Medicine physician employed by the Hampton VA Medical Center. The Bascos live in Hampton with their three children and three dogs. Their oldest is a proud Hokie and when Dr. Basco is not at work he enjoys watching his son wrestle and his youngest run cross country.
